BARBERA D 'ALBA (Controlled Denomination of Origin)


CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VINEYARD:


-land: hilly, facing southwest;
-elevation: 150 to 200 m above sea level;
-implantation size: 0.9 m x 2.80 m,.
-age: 20 to 30 years,.
-cultivation: classic goujot with arc-shape modification.

CLASSIFICATION: Dry Piedmontese red wine with controlled denomination of origin.

ORIGIN: Commune of Neive.

SOIL: marly, calcareous, sandy.

SPECIES OF WINE: Barbera. It has a good vegetative vigour: The bunch has pyramidal shape and is compact. The grape is medium-sized, and blue/black
-coloured.

VINTAGE PERIOD: Third ten days of September: Vintage is carried out manually.

VINIFICATION: Grapes undergo a soft pressing and are transferred to steel tanks to begin their fermentation. Maceration period is 8 days. After its fermentation, the wine is preserved in steel tanks.

CHARACTERISTICS:
-colour: intense ruby red, limpid and bright;
-scent: vinous and persistent, very intense and peculiar; it reminds of grapes flavour, especially when it is new;
-taste: rich, full-bodied, dry and lightly tannic;

COUPLINGS: For proper tasting, let wine reach room temperature (18 to 22° C), and uncork the bottle two or three hours before its use. Itgoes well with vegetable soups, risotti, roasts and game.
